An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is a document that provides data on the environmental impact of a specific building material. These data are presented in a standardized way, making it much easier to compare different materials.
The last EPD carried out by AFITEXINOV concerned the GEOTER® FPET range. Five other products are now involved.
This document describes the environmental and health aspects associated with production, such as raw materials, acquisition, use and energy efficiency, material content and chemical substances, emissions into the air, soil and water, and waste production.
For manufacturers, the environmental declaration provides quantitative data to help identify ways of improving the product's environmental performance throughout its life cycle, as part of an eco-design approach.
The relevant standard for EPDs is ISO 14025.
This EPD is thus an additional level of certification to provide the confidence and transparency needed by customers, professionals and product designers in the environmental field.
